ABSTRACT

The word Metaverse has influenced many sectors such as healthcare, education, retail and manufacturing and few more industries are there which will be impacted by 2026 as per the research conducted by Gartner. The word 'Metaverse' especially in education sector came into existence after the COVID-19 epidemic when the humanity were forced to think about the new methodology of educating and teaching. This ecosphere is the combination of technologies which enables multimodal interactions with artificial environment, electronic library and people such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). It is believed that metaverse will improve collaboration, training process will be enhanced and most importantly it will create a happier workplace. This is only the reason that many corporate giants like Nvidia, facebook, apple, epic Games and companies has shifted towards this pedagogical ecosystem. This technology has the potential which enables absolute incorporating user conversation in actual-time and compelling interactivity with digital artifact. In this paper, we are addressing metaverse in education along with a detailed framework of metaverse in education. It includes a comparative study of conventional education, online education and metaverse education based on parameters like place of learning, resources used, teaching methodology, learning experience, learning target and learning assessment. Competency based education, energize student and positive attitude towards learning. The various challenges of the metaverse in educational sector are also debated. This paper will help the researcher's fraternity to get a deeper insight along with a clear perception of this ecosystem in education. © 2023 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The impact of Covid around the globe is imperative all around the world. Though the pandemic had glaring effects on the market, sectors have been showing a reviving trend post-covid. This is possible with the right mapping and affective forecasting. The majorly hit sector was the hotel industry, and situations showed a positive surge with potential sales incrementing post covid. Hospitality industry in particular is much prone to act post covid after easing of travel restrictions and social distancing. Sustainability seems to be the difficult arena with many hotels having low profile financial conditions. The aim of the research is to understand the potential indicators in hotels in India which are expected to boost the sales and sustain the sector. The authors have used a combination of literature review to identify the potential indicators through past studies. Further the qualitative opinion polls, focus group and interviews were conducted to evaluate the indicators and their comparative ranking in the industry. Data were gathered through hotel employees representing various domains like Front office, F & B, Marketing, and promotions department of the premium leisure hotel properties. Further the analysis has been employed for classifying the potential indicators with their relative impact, examining their cause-and-effect phenomena. The study has been validated by expert opinion poll supporting the hypothesis tested. Mapping such inclusive indicators;the hotel industry may be well prepared for the coming future. The most significant indicators have been identified and the mutual interdependence between the potential indicators have been seen through the analysis. will be highly beneficial for the hotel industry to have strong strategic preparation post covid. It also shows that estimating the critical elements at the right time can lead to vowing revenues, saving the industry. ABSTRACT

We draw the attention of readers and governments to the death rate from coronavirus disease 2019 in Japan, continuing as a fraction of that experienced by many other developed nations. We think this is due to the activity of the powerful, protective lactoperoxidase system (LPO) which prevents serious airborne infections. The LPO system requires iodine, which is liberally provided by the typical Japanese diet but lacking in many others. One might consider the Japanese experience an incredibly large, open-label study exhibiting the preventative power of a high-iodine diet. We predict this favourable trend will continue for Japan because deadly variants of the severe, acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 will be with us, forever.Copyright © 2023 The Scandinavian Foundation for Immunology.

ABSTRACT

For the past few years, the world has seen a paradigm shift in the way of life. Daily activities of working, learning, etc. were shifted to an online mode so that the spread of the covid virus can be contained. During this time, usage of social media apps was at an all-time high since it was the only way people could socialize. The clubhouse was one such social media app that gained popularity during the lockdown and showed exponential growth in terms of user engagement. But, it was observed that from the survey conducted among 33 users, almost 82% of users showed reluctance in using Clubhouse over time. 84.8% of users welcomed the need for a better User Experience for the platform. An average of 64.2% of users reported different User Experience (UX) related issues in the app. In this paper, the UX side of the app is studied and discussed. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Public transportation is a crucial part of our everyday lives, also, moving from one place to another is fraught with problems. The number of people using public transportation has increased, increasing transportation demand among the general population. Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, it is difficult for people to travel around the city without fear of contracting the disease;in this situation, people always wish for a better hygiene system and a low infection rate in the city. As a result, the primary goal of the study is to research and develop a viewpoint on the public transportation seating system, that is relevant to the Indian setting and attitude of following rules and regulations. Many things have been tried in the past to ensure the safety of travelers, and they have not proven as beneficial as they should be after following COVID-19 recommendations. ABSTRACT

The botnet have developed into a severe risk to Internet of Things (IoT) systems as a result of manufacturers ‘insufficient security policies and end users' lack of security awareness. By default, several ports are open and user credentials are left unmodified. ML and DL strategies have been suggested in numerous latest research for identifying and categorising botnet assaults in the IoT context, but still, it has a few issues like high error susceptibility, working only with a large amount of data, poor quality, and data acquisition. This research provided use of a brand-new IoT botnet detector built on an improved hybrid classifier. The proposed work's main components are "pre-processing, feature extraction, feature selection, and attack detection." Following that, the improved Information Gain (IIG) model is used to choose the most reliable characteristics from the received information. To detect an attack, a hybrid classifier is utilized which can be constructed by integrating the optimized Bi-GRU with the Recurrent Neural Network (RNN). To increase the detection accuracy of IoT-BOTNETS, a novel hybrid optimization approach called SMIE (Slime Mould with Immunity Evolution) is created by conceptually integrating two conventional optimization modes: Coronavirus herd immunity optimizer (CHIO) and the Slime mould algorithm. The final output of the hybrid classifier displays the presence or absence of IoT-BOTNET attacks. The projected model's accuracy is 97%, which is 22.6%, 18.5%, 27.8%, 22.6%, and 24.8% higher than the previous models like GWO+ HC, SSO+ HC, WOA+ HC, SMA+ HC, and CHIO+ HC, respectively. © 2022

ABSTRACT

Face masks have become a crucial part of our everyday lives as the number of COVID cases around the world has increased, and new varieties appear every few months. We must wear a mask every time we walk outside, so the installation of face mask detectors in public places has become quite significant. In this study, we use image processing to create a face mask detection system on cascading multiple architectures of convolutional neural networks (CNN) and deep neural networks (DNN), with investigate the findings using MobileNetV2, Xception and ResNet152V2 models. The proposed technique was able to obtain excellent accuracy by training the system with CNN and DNN architectures. © 2022 IEEE.

Covid illness (COVID-19), with a beginning stage in China. As per report collected on 30 Jun 2022, total cases are 4.35Cr +18,819 also 5.25L+39 cases of deaths across several states of India are reported. it means quite a bit to complete a modified area structure as an expedient elective finding decision to hinder COVID-19 spreading among people. In this research, a novel method is proposed in which a efficient hybrid technique is developed to recognize Coronavirus utilizing half breed Chest and Lung's network based models. CNN and ResNet50 layers have been implemented in proposed HNN model for the acknowledgment of Covid pneumonia tainted patient using chest and lung X-shaft and lung radiographs. We have executed multi class portrayals with four classes (COVID-19, common (strong), viral pneumonia) by using 5-overlay cross endorsement. Considering the show results gained, it has seen that the pre-arranged ResNet50 model gives the most important portrayal execution (99.7% precision for Dataset). © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

The Covid-19 virus is a Sars virus that has killed millions of people around the world. It's crucial to know the genotype of the covid virus in order to understand its structure and find vaccines. A genome can be defined as the complete DNA present in the organism which contains the complete set of genetic instruction. In living creatures, the genome is contained in long DNA molecules called chromosomes. A comparative study has been done by using the datasets containing Sars genome, Mers genome, Civets with Sars like genome, bats with Sars like genome, Dengue virus genome, camel with CoV genome, Tuberculosis genome and hedgehog with covid like genome along with the covid genome and draw conclusions regarding the similarities and differences in the nucleotide sequences of Covid-19 genome. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

Aim: To study the High Resolution Computed Tomography manifestations in the evaluation of COVID-19 suspected and diagnosed patients and study its correlation in respect to CT severity scoring with symptomology, comorbidities, lab parameters and oxygen requirement in the study group. Method(s): This was a descriptive study conducted between August 2020 to October 2022 at Dr D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre, Pune after taking necessary approval by the institutional scientific and ethics committee. 500 patients meeting the inclusion criteria for the study were included in the study after taking a written informed consent from all the patients. Result(s): A total of 500 study participants were included;of them 27% (n=133) were categorized as mild on the basis of CT severity score, 51% (n=257) were categorized as moderate and 78 participants (15.6%) were categorized as severe. Thirty two (6.4%) patients who were suspected for having COVID-19 infection and being diagnosed as COVID-19 positive on RTPCR tests showed normal HRCT scans. Our study group included 311 male and 189 female patients. Ground glass opacities were the. Most common typical CT chest manifestation in our study group seen in all of severe patients followed by 97.3% in moderate groups, 94.7% in mild group. Consolidation was seen in 55.1% of severe patients followed by 31.9% in moderate disease groups, 15.8% in mild group. Bilateral involvement of lung parenchyma on HRCT was more common and was seen to affect 84.8% (n=429) of total population there was a lower lobe preponderance in early and mild disease with the right lower lobe being the most common lobe being affected followed by the left lower lobe. In our study group, atypical findings of COVID 19 disease on HRCT were seen in 24 % (n=120) of total population. In our study groups, among the atypical findings pleural effusion is the most common atypical finding which was seen in 10.2% (n=51) of total study population followed by mediastinal lymphadenopathy which was seen in 9.2% (n=46) of total study population. The mean number of days since symptoms was highest for patients in severe disease category (7.3 days) followed by moderate group (5.3 days) and mild group (3.0 days). In our study oxygenation support was required for 64.1% of patients in severe group followed by 39.3% in moderate group and 6.8% in mild group. Conclusion(s): COVID 19 disease has had a significant negative impact on the healthcare system all across the world and CT imaging plays an important role in assessing disease severity and progression. Our study supports the use of HRCT in patients with COVID-19 infection, which could be used as a rapid and an effective gatekeeper to rule-out patients with a low likelihood of disease. ABSTRACT

To critically assess the performance of micro and small foodpreneurs during COVID-19 pandemic in Manipur state of India, an online survey was conducted during the year 2020. The survey data was subjected to non-parametric statistical analysis using PROC NPAR1WAY and Dwass, Steel, Critchlow-Ffigner multiple comparison analysis. The findings suggested that during COVID-19 pandemic, the micro and small foodpreneurs faced multifaceted challenges with respect to the number of employees, working hours, supply of raw material, selling mode, production, sale, turnover and the extent of loss, etc. The performance of different categories of foodpreneurs was compared based on the change in various performance indicators between pre-pandemic and pandemic period. The study also highlights the major problems faced by the foodpreneurs and remedial measures. This is the first report on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on foodpreneurs from North East India.

ABSTRACT

Background. Determination of vaccination rates for people living with HIV (PLWH) and factors that affect adherence to vaccination is important to ensure these vulnerable patients are optimally protected against vaccine-preventable diseases. We analyzed the rates of vaccination and associated factors in PLWH receiving care in the Henry Ford Health Infectious Diseases (HFH ID) Clinic in Detroit, MI. Methods. We implemented a retrospective, observational study. Inclusion criteria were all PLWH who had at minimum two clinic visits at HFH ID clinic within 12 months from 2015-2021. Charts were reviewed for demographic data. We analyzed the rates of all eligible vaccines including the hepatitis A and B, HPV, influenza, pneumococcal, tetanus, zoster, and COVID-19 vaccines. Results. A total of 661 met the inclusion criteria. Average age of the patients was 50 years. 78.6% were male, 74.3% black, and 57.6% patients were from Detroit. On average, patients had 1 clinic visit in the past year at HFH ID Clinic. Rates of influenza, pneumococcal, and tetanus vaccinations were above 90%. Rates of hepatitis A and B vaccinations were above 80%. Rates of zoster and HPV vaccinations were above 50%. COVID-19 vaccination had the lowest rate at 42.1%. Patients who had received all recommended vaccines were more likely to be male, have a HFH PCP, men who have sex with men (MSM), younger, more HFH ID clinic visits, and have a higher CD4 count on entry into care. Factors associated with increased vaccine uptake include having a HFH primary care physician (PCP), more HFH ID clinic visits, and a CD4 count above 200 on entry. Having 2 clinic visits in the previous year was associated with a higher likelihood of vaccine adherence [OR 5.85 (95% CI 0.360 - 0.723)]. Conclusion. Our study shows that even in this highly vulnerable, vaccinehesitant population, programs that integrate vaccines and promote adherence to clinic care into the routine care of PLWH results in high rates of vaccine uptake. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a serious global warning to social wellbeing. Antimicrobial stewardship Intervention is evident to provide a good effect on AMR. Antimicrobial Stewardship Programs (ASPs) have been established to minimize the usage of antibiotics, antibiotic resistance, and healthcare expenditure. Prospective audits with feedback, formulary restriction/preauthorization along with many other supportive elements are found effective techniques of antimicrobial stewardship programme. However, the proportional effect of different techniques is unclear. This ASP strategies utilization is compared in hospital setting and adult hospital units implementing ASP have provided much evidence demonstrating their value. This study includes the effectiveness of various explicit AMS strategies, measuring the outcome in various clinical setups such as reducing antibiotic resistance and antibiotic use.The death toll from COVID-19 is the highest of any other respiratory virus outbreak but Multiple Drug Resistant (MDR) and deadly resistant pathogens outbreaks could be at any point of time.Even in this present antibiotic era required primarily require combat it andstrong vigilance is also desired. The primary objective of this study is to enhance patient care and to lower medical expenses, but the ultimate objective is to safeguard already available and newly developed antibiotics against the threat of AMR. It has been noted that Prospective Audit and Feedback (PAF) intervention is one of the most often employed strategies among all other interventions of AMS. Although this is time-taking, it is accepted by physicians for more than formulary restrictions and pre-authorization procedures. There have been several digital initiatives to support antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), while they have been concentrated on individual interventions.Pre-authorization or recommended formulary limitation was found in 31% of all trials. 20% of these studies implemented this intervention independently, and many trials were also undertaken in conjunction with other interventions mostly in addition to training and education. Using the available pool information, we observed in various strategies a significant reduction in antimicrobial resistance and a reduced Days of Therapy (DOT)/Length of Treatment (LOT) ratio. SESSION TITLE: Post-COVID-19 Infection Complications SESSION TYPE: Case Report Posters PRESENTED ON: 10/17/2022 12:15 pm - 01:15 pm INTRODUCTION: COVID-19 has affected over 200 million people worldwide. Clinicians continue to observe unusual manifestations of this disease. In an attempt to improve our understanding of COVID-19 pneumonia, we present the details of one patient who developed large bilateral pulmonary cysts. CASE PRESENTATION: A 40-year-old woman with no known medical problems presented with the chief complaint of fever, nausea, vomiting, generalized weakness followed by difficulty breathing that developed over a few days. Her vital signs on admission included temperature 98.4° F, heart rate 104 beats/minute, respiratory rate 48 breaths/minute, O2 saturation 88 percent on 15 liters of oxygen through a non-rebreather mask, and Body Mass Index 42 kg/m2. The patient tested positive for COVID-19. Computed tomography (CT) of the chest to rule out a pulmonary embolism showed bilateral extensive ground-glass opacities and reticular and nodular opacities. She was intubated for acute hypoxic respiratory failure. Twenty days into the hospital admission, she was noted to have a bulla in the right lower lobe. A repeat CT chest on day 45 revealed an increase in the number and size of cysts bilaterally. Patient was discharged to rehab and later readmitted for worsening respiratory status. This time she tested positive for human metapneumovirus. A CT chest showed increase in the size of the right sided lung cysts;the left sided lung cysts had resolved. DISCUSSION: The first COVID-19 related pulmonary cystic lesions were reported in May 2020(1). Since then, several reports have now established a relationship between an infection and cyst formation. The most common distribution is peripheral in the lower lobes. The pathogenesis remains uncertain, but several mechanisms have been proposed. Microthrombi in the pulmonary circulation could lead to ischemia and subsequent remodeling of interstitial matrix and bronchial obstruction with distal hyperinflation due to check valve mechanism. (1,2). Hamad et al. propose that pneumatoceles are formed by air leaked in to the interstitium which causes stripping and separation of a thin layer of lung parenchyma with further injury to the small blood vessels and bronchioles. The rate of barotrauma in non-COVID-19 related ARDS is 0.5%;the rate in COVID-19 ARDS is 15% (3). This suggests a close relation between COVID-19 pneumonia and subsequent development of pulmonary cysts. Our patient had no preexisting pulmonary disease and was noted to have pulmonary cysts after being on mechanical ventilation for almost 2 weeks. The patient later contracted the human metapneumovirus infection and CT showed that the right-sided lung cysts had become bigger in size. However, the left-sided cysts which had a maximum diameter of 4.8 cm had resolved. CONCLUSIONS: We need to follow patients with COVID 19 induced lung cysts clinically and radiologically to understand the clinical course and best management strategies. Reference #1: Kefu Liu et al. Human health is severely endangered by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). It is viewed as the worst global health threat humans have faced since the second world war and the WHO recognized it as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. This pandemic led several nations to adopt statewide lockdowns, while the industrial, construction, and transportation activities in several nations were disrupted, which lead to a significant shift in air pollutants. The lockdown, however, significantly impacted the environment and air quality in distinct cities. There are numerous ground stations deployed by pollution control organizations to monitor and collect the air pollutants data, but it is not feasible to set up a ground station in every city. In places where ground stations are not available for data collection, Google Earth Engine (GEE) satellite captured data can be used for data analysis. This study aimed to analyze the changes in air pollutants during the different lockdowns in India, such as nitrogen dioxide(NO2), sulfur dioxide(SO2), and carbon monoxide(CO) that contribute significantly to air pollution. In India, lockdowns were imposed during different periods of 2020, 2021, and 2022, according to COVID-19 waves. The air pollutants data during different waves have been analyzed and compared with the pre-COVID year (2019) data for the same duration. According to the study results, N O2 and S O2 were drastically reduced, but only a minor reduction in CO. Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai were among the major cities that saw the largest reduction, which was up to 60%. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

SARS-CoV-2, the causing agent of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), first broke out in Wuhan and rapidly spread worldwide, resulting in a global health emergency. The lack of specific drugs against the coronavirus has made its spread challenging to control. The main protease (Mpro) is a key enzyme of SARS-CoV-2 used as a key target in drug discovery against the coronavirus. Medicines derived from plant phytoconstituents have been widely exploited to treat various diseases. The present study has evaluated the potential of Illicium verum (star anise) phytoconstituents against Mpro by implementing a computational approach. We performed molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation study with a set of 60 compounds to identify their potential to inhibit the main protease (Mpro) of SARS-CoV-2. DFT study and post dynamics free energy calculations were also performed to strengthen the findings. The identified four compounds by docking study exhibited the highest potential compared to other selected phytoconstituents. Further, density functional theory (DFT) calculation, molecular dynamics simulation and post dynamics MM-GBSA energy calculation predicted Verimol-G as a potential compound, which formed stable interactions through the catalytic dyad residues. The HOMO orbital energy (-0.250038) from DFT and the post dynamics binding free energy calculation (-73.33 Kcal/mol) correlate, suggesting Verimol-G is the best inhibitor compared to the other phytoconstituents. This compound also complies with the ADME properties of drug likeliness. Thus, based on a computational study, we suggest that Verimol G may be developed as a potential inhibitor against the main protease to combat COVID-19.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.
